Adamawa Police Arrest Church Member for Kidnapping 2 Rev. Fathers

 


The Adamawa State Command has apprehended a 34 years old man identified as Tahamado Jonathan Demian for allegedly kidnapping 2 Reverend Fathers.


A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, explained that the suspect and member of Catholic Church abducted Rev. Father Abraham Samman and Rev. Father Matthew David Dusami of Catholic Dioceses Yola and Jalingo respectively.


However, SP Nguroje said that the Catholic Priests were rescued unhurt and that 1 locally fabricated assault rifle, handset and sim cards were recovered.


He said that the command in its effort to ensure protection of lives, property, and safe environment, carried out a coordinated rescue operation at a particular criminal hideout situated at a remote side of Gwaida Malam village connecting part of Numan and Demsa LGAs and arrested the suspect. 


"This rescue operation commenced from 21st February, 2025, in various criminal hideouts within the state and it yielded positive results as one Tahamado Jonathan Demian, 34years old member of the same church with the victims was arrested for kidnapping 2 Rev Fathers, Abraham Samman and Matthew David Dusami of Catholic Dioceses Yola and Jalingo respectively. 


"The command's planned operation had successfully rescued the Reverend Fathers unhurt and no dime was paid as ransom. The victims are now receiving medical attention.


"The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, expressed gratitude for the support  the command is receiving from the government, sister security agencies and the public.

 

"He therefore encouraged them to sustain the cooperation and collaboration for timely response to emergency situations". SP Nguroje stated. 


He assured that the command and other security agencies will ensure peace and security across the state and beyond through deligent prosecution of the suspect who is now in custody.
