ADHA Celebrates Women on International Women's Day

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has joined the rest of the world in commemorating International Women's Day, commending the vital role women play in advancing society. The assembly specifically felicitated with the women folk across Adamawa State on the occasion of International Women's Day during plenary session presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley. Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, confirmed 3 commissioner nominees as requsted by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. News Platform  The nominees include Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Eng. Muhammed Suleiman ( Mubi North LGA), Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA). The nominees were screened and subsequently confirmed following their appearance before the plenary session presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Barely a week after his resignation from the PDP and formal realignment with the APC, the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, has formalised his defection to APC. Rt. Dr. Victor Sunday Kwambuge Resigns from PDP, Joins APC

In a significant political development in Adamawa State, Dr. Victor Sunday Kwambuge, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). Dr. Kwambuge confirmed his new political alignment after registering earlier today in Madzi Ward, Michika Local Government Area.  His move follows the recent defection of his Principal, Sen. Amos Yohana, who also left the PDP for the APC after engaging with constituents in Mubi Local Government Area. The President of Emnamu Foundation, at the 2026 Annual Convention of the LCCN, donated N200 million. Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday, received 3 names of commissioner nominees for screening and subsequent confirmation. News Platform  The nominees include Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Eng. Muhammed Suleiman ( Mubi North LGA), Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA). The assembly also received the name of Iliya Gaji (Mubi North LGA) for screening and confirmation as member Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission. The list of the nominees is contained in separate letters forwarded to the assembly by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and read at the assembly by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley. Court Strikes Out Suit Challenging the Creation of Fufore Emirate

A Yola High Court in Adamawa State presided by Justice Musa Usman, on Tuesday, struck out a suit challenging the creation of Fufore Emirate. News Platform  Justice Usman, struck out the suit for failure of the plaintiffs to prove that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Adamawa State House of Assembly had failed to take necessary action before creating Fufore emirate. He declared that the plaintiffs had failed to file or serve the defendants with pre-action notice of one month before their action, insisting that there was no evidence to show that they have filed or served the defendants with the notice. Police Nab 2 for Transnational Drug Smuggling in Adamawa

In its ongoing fight against drug trafficking and trans-border crimes, the Adamawa State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects in possession of 197 sachets of tramadol. This is contained in a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available to newsmen in Yola, Adamawa state. The suspects arrested include Muhammad Mustapha, 32 years of Dorayi, Kano State and Muhammad Sanusi, 48 years, of Garoua, Cameroon Republic. He explained that the suspects were intercepted by operatives of the Border Patrol Fufore Unit, during an operation. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the illicit substances were transported from a South-Eastern state and were being conveyed through Adamawa State with the intention of smuggling them into the Republic of Cameroon before they were intercepted. Breaking: ADHA Confirms Appointment of State Dev Area Administrators

Adamawa State House of Assembly on Wednesday, confirmed the appointment of the Development Area Administrators. News Platform  The confirmation followed the consideration of a letter forwarded to the assembly by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and read at the resumed plenary session by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley. In his letter, Governor Fintiri requested the hallowed chamber to consider and confirm the nominees for appointment as Development Area Administrators. Trafficking: Adamawa Police Rescue 3 Underage Girls, Nab 2 Female Suspects

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two female suspects in connection to a case of suspected child trafficking and rescued 3 underage girls. The suspects include Hasiya Yuguda, 35 years of NEPA, Jimeta Yola North LGA and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40 years of Wuro-Hausa, Yola South LGA. The victims are Naomi Linus, 14 years, Agnes Thomas,16 years and Patience Justine,15 years as contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje. SP Nguroje said that on the 17th February, 2026, the operatives of the Command attached to State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three teenagers at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park. Invest N9billion in Nutrition to Save Lives, CS-SUNN Urges Adamawa Govt

The Civil Society–Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), has urged Adamawa State to invest the sum of N9billion in nutrition sector in order to save lives of over 70,000 children in Adamawa State. CS-SUNN has equally appealed to the government to extend paid maternity leave from 3 to 6 months to female civil servants to enable them exclusively breastfeed their babies. According to CS-SUNN,  government should maximize the counterpart funding opportunities of getting double the value of investments made on child nutrition, saying that government will need to invest only N9 billion to address child malnutrition instead of the required N18billion. News Platform  The bill is tagged, a bill for a Law to establish the Adamawa State Roads Fund for the purpose of financing the development, rehabilitation and maintenance of state and rural roads". No fewer than 15,000 patients across Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone are expected to benefit from the ongoing Phase II Free Medical Outreach sponsored by Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, in partnership with the Iya Abbas Foundation and the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency. ADHA D-Speaker Distributes 11 Cars, 20 Motorcycles, Others to Constituents

The Deputy Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Buba Jidjiwa, on Monday, distributed assorted empowerment items to cross section of his constituents. Hon. Jidjiwa distributed 11 Toyota Yaris, 20 Motorcycles, 15 Sewing Machines and 16 Granding Machines to his electorate cut across 6 political wards of Jada-Mbulo constituency. The lawmaker also renovated 5 blocks of classrooms and offices across primary schools, constructed multi purpose hall at Gangwaso primary school, constructed primary health care centre at Njarendi Gada. He constructed 5 culverts/mini bridge at strategic locations across the wards to improve rural access roads, prevent soil erosion, and facilitate the smooth movement of goods and services especially during the rainy season. The legislator had drilled boreholes across all the wards in Jada Mbulo including Danaba, Nyibango, Mbulo, Mayo Kalayi, Jada 1 and Jada 2 respectively to ensure access to potable water.
