ADAMAWA COMMUNITY AGOG AS NAMDAS COMMISSIONS N83.7M PHC

The inhabitants of Bajama community in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Adamawa state have rolled out drums in appreciating the Member representing Ganye, Jada Toungo, and Mayo-Belwa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, who stormed the community to commission N83.7million Primary Healthcare Center.

Namdas and his entourage visited the community to commission a level two Primary Health Care facility worth N83.7 million naira he constructed as part of a deliberate effort to meet the health needs of his teeming electorate.

This is the second project the lawmaker is commissioning to mark the 2021 Democracy Day as well as celebrate the second year of his second term in office.

The first was the commissioning of twin two-bedroom apartments at Jada General Hospital.

While addressing the people of Bajama, Hon. Namdas, appreciated them for the support they have given the contractor and ensuring that the project was carried out without any challenge, assuring that he will ensure that the staff quarters are built for the health workers and equipment provided for the smooth take-off of health service delivery at the center.

"We have dared the bad terrain and long distance to come to this place to commission this people-oriented project, and I must tell you that I'm excited to see the joy and happiness on the faces of the people of this community. This alone shows us how important the health facility is to them.

"Providing health facility is something that has a direct effect on the people and they will naturally want to identify with it. It took us a lot of hours to come here because of how bad the road is. You can imagine if a woman is in labour and needed to be taken to either Jereng or Mayo-Belwa for delivery, that will be difficult, time-consuming, and risky. It is because of things like this that I facilitated the building of this health facility so that the people will get health service at their doorsteps," Namdas said.

The lawmaker who has declared that he will be contesting for the office of the governor of Adamawa state said he is confident that the people will take advantage of the health services for their medical needs. He expressed confidence in the quality of staff posted to the hospital while calling on them to give their best to all and sundry.

"The staff here are competent and have demonstrated capacity by showing they know what they are doing. All we need to do is to support them and ensure that more equipment and drugs are available at the hospital for efficient and effective service delivery," he added.

The district head of Bajama Alh. Dr. Hamman Adama Bello who was overwhelmed by the project commended Namdas for having the interest of the people at heart. He said the community has since set up a committee to ensure that the facility is properly maintained.

"We are grateful for this laudable project that you have brought to us. This will go a long way in alleviating the suffering our people go through before accessing medical services. For this effort and having us at heart, I hereby appoint you the Dan Iya Bajama," the district head said.

Representative of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Abubakar Muhammed Sani, congratulates the people of Bajama for having such a facility. He however called on them to ensure proper maintenance of the facility by adopting the community ownership strategy. He also charged them to cooperate with the staff of the facility to ensure they get the best health care services.

Some members of the community who spoke to journalists at the commissioning ceremony narrate how they used to travel far distances to get medical services. They thank Hon. Namdas for bringing such a laudable project to them while assuring him of their loyalty and total support.

The second phase of the project will include a doctor's apartment, borehole, solar power, and electricity generator.
