ANGRY FOWL THIEF KILLS CHURCH ELDER WHO CALLED FOR HIS DISCIPLINE IN ADAMAWA

 


An angry man accused of stealing a fowl, Bamaiyi Garrison of Gomuyu Waka Village in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, Adamawa state, has killed an Elder of a Church, John Caleb, for allegedly advising the Leadership of the Church to discipline him for the act he committed.


Bamaiyi, had admitted committing the offence before the Chief Magistrate Court 3 Yola presided by Awwamem Fwa, when he was arraigned on Wednesday and subsequently remanded at the Yola Correctional Centre. 


It all began when the fowl which belongs to a resident of the community got missing for about 2 weeks, but was later found tied in the house of the suspect.


NEWS PLATFORM learnt that the action of the suspect was reported to late John Caleb, being an Uncle to the accused and an Elder of the Church in the community.


Irked by the action of the suspect, the victim was said to have gathered the church elders on Sunday last week shortly after the church service and narrated what his Uncle and the suspect did. 


He was said to have advised the Elders in the presence of the suspect to discipline him for stealing the fowl, but unknown to him, his advice did not go down well with the suspect.


Bamaiyi, who was visibly angry with his Uncle for exposing him and taking a hard stand on him, was said to have waited till late night during which he picked a hoe, went to the house of his Uncle and hit him very hard leading to his untimely death. 


Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Ali Emma, prayed the court to read the content of the First Information Report, FIR, and be interpreted to the suspect to enable him take his plea after which the suspect pleaded guilty and subsequently remanded at the correctional centre.
