A 25 year old man, Musa Ardo Manu, of Guduniya Wuroibbo village in Song Local Government Area, Adamawa state has admitted threatening to kidnap a man, Yahaya Mallam Buba, of the same community.
Musa confessed before Chief Magistrate Court II in Yola that himself and his friend, Usman Buba, 21, conspired and threatened to abduct Yahaya, because he personally caught him committing adultery with his lovely wife.
The 2 accused persons were said to have called Yahaya, and asked him to pay the sum of N3million or risk kidnapping because of his extra marital affair with Musa's wife.
The duo were arraigned before Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani by Inspector Boyom Alex, over alleged criminal conspiracy, threat to life and attempt to commit offence of kidnapping.
But when the charge sheet was read and interpreted to the defendants, both denied committing the offences but told the court that they threatened to kidnap him because he was committing adultery with Musa's wife so as to teach him a lesson.
The first accused person informed the court that he caught Yahaya with his wife and reported the matter to his father as well as their village head but no serious action was taken to call him to order, saying that instead Yahaya's father accused him of threatening to kill his son.
According to him, he later gave their victim's phone number to his friend, the 2nd defendant and asked him to call and threatened to abduct him or pay ransom, saying that Usman's phone number was tracked by the security operatives, hence their arrest.
Ruling on the matter, Magistrate Basani, ordered that the defendants be remanded in Yola prison custody, and adjourned the case to 30th June, 2021.
