As Honourable Members of the Adamawa state House of Assembly continue to give account of their stewardship in 2 years, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, on Saturday donated 28 cars including 4 ambulances and medical consumables.
The speaker had during the historic event graced by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, his colleagues from the house, members of the state executive council, leadership of the ruling PDP, other stakeholders, supporters, beneficiaries, friends and well wishers, empowered 600 women with cash so as to enable them establish small scale businesses.
Likewise, in 2 years of his tenure, Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas, facilitated the construction of block of 3 classrooms with an office and toilet facilities at Dumde area of Uba, constructed and furnished 2 classrooms at Mayo Lope, Kurmi and Njairi primary schools and constructed and eqipped a computer center at Garstanu and Chika.
To complement the effort of the executive arm in the health sector, he also embarked on the rehabiltation and construction primary health care centers at Sabon Gari, Zah, Guw as well as constructed/sank boreholes, facilitated the re-electrification and electrification of communities, distributed fertilizer to farmers and delivery kits to women, empowered 50 youths in collaboration with UNDP in various skills among others.
Speaking while donating the cars at Mararaba Mubi on Saturday, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, told the gathering that he was impressed with what he has seen on the ground and applauded the Speaker for donating the ambulances to PHCs as well as other vehicles to youth with a view to empowering them.
Governor Fintiri, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner Ministry for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, said that the electorate in Uba/Gaya have elected credible leader who has the love of his people at heart, and urged other legislators to emulate the Speaker.
In his keynote address, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas, appreciated his teeming electorate for giving him their mandate to represent them and promised to continue to provide them with people oriented representation.
He further disclosed that he chose Mararaba as the venue of the event because himself and his electorate knew what happened during the election that brought him to power, saying that he is in the house not to make money but to provide good governance to the masses.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the PDP in the state, Barr. A. T. Shehu, commended the Speaker for defended the ruling party and democracy, adding that the electorate have voted for the right members in Hong constituency.
He used the opportunity and appealed to the beneficiaries to make use of the vehicles donated so as to make them become self reliant in the society, calling on those that could not get to exercise patience and wait for another time.
In his welcome address, the Chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hong Local Government Area, Usman Wa'aganda, said that the Iya Abbas, who represents Uba/Gaya and his counterpart of Hong, Hon. Bathiya Wesley, have made him and the leadership of the party proud.
Hon. Wa'aganda, said that he was confident right from the time of campaign that Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas and Bathiya Wesley would deliver on their promises and urged the electorate to support them and Governor Fintiri's administration.
