COURT SENDS 4 WITCHES TO PRISON FOR BEWITCHING 2 IN ADAMAWA

 


Chief Magistrate Court 4 in Yola Adamawa state has remanded 4 men accused of witchraft in prison custody for allegedly bewitching 2 people.


The accused persons were alleged to have held 2 of their victims in thrall by witchraft, torturing/tormenting them for almost a year.


The accused persons are; Sani Bolere Baban Yello of Bomo Namtari in Yola south LGA and Kero Jediel, Babangida Amos and Zebulun Bejamin of Wuro Yanka in Shelleng LGA.


Baban Yello, was dragged before the court by Gidado Alhaji Idi, of the same village, while Kero, Babangida and Zebulum who were joined as 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants were brought to court by Debe Lamina Dathan, respectively.


Earlier, Gidado in a direct criminal complaint averred that his son, Abubakar Gidado, fell sick for more than a year, and that when the defendant whom he suspected to be the one responble for the sickness was taken to Sarkin Mayu Adamawa, he admitted bewitching his child. 


On her part, Debe Lamina Dathan, a business woman at Wuro Yanka, alleged that her brother, Yindusura Dathan, fell sick for quiet sometimes, but when he was taken to prayer house, it was revealed that the defendants took away his spirit.


But when the substance of the complaint was read and explained to Baban Yello, he pleaded guilty, confessing that he is a witch who has been torturing the boy.


While on their part, Kero, Babangida and Zebulum, denied the allegation.


Ruling on the matter, the Chief Magistrate Court 4, presided by Chief Magistrate Adamu Abdulrazak, ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to the 28th June, 2021 for hearing.
