ADHA LAWMAKER RECORDS BREAKTHROUGH IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS

In about 6 months in office, the member representing Yola North constituency at the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Hamidu Sajo Lekki has recorded a major breakthrough in the act of legislature and improved wellbeing of his constituents.

The achievements so far recorded by the Chairman House Standing Committee on Health and Human Resources of the 7th Assembly has made him to become one of the Honourable Members who performed creditably well within 6 months of their assumption of office.

This followed the construction of a befitting security outpost for Vigilante group at Luggare ward, donation of a brand new Toyota starlet, disbursement of the sum of #100,000 each to some seek persons and donation of motorcycle to a physically challenged person.

It was in recognition of his contribution in fighting crime in his constituency that the Adamawa state Police command recently honoured him with a prestigious award of excellence so as to encourage him to do more for the betterment of the society.

According to the copy of record of performance of the lawmaker obtained by NEWS PLATFORM in Yola, Hon. Lekki is the first legislator from Yola north to establish constituency office to serve as a place where he will get in touch with his teeming constituents.

It further indicated that through the constituency office, the lawmaker has been able reached out to his electorate through disbursement of stipends to students, individuals, his political party, religious bodies, petty traders and groups which contributed tremendously in uplifting their standard of living.

To connect some parts of his constituents with power supply, the member was able to complete the abandoned 500KVA,11/0.415 KV substation at Rumde ward which connects some parts of Limawa and Yelwa wards respectively.

Even though the execution of capital projects is not the primary responsibility of the Honourable Members, Hon.Lekki said that he found it necessary to complement the effort of the government of the day in enhancing the living standard of the people at the grassroots.

While on the floor of the hallowed chamber, the lawmaker was able to float a bill for a law to regulate the minimum standard for health care facilities and bill for a law to amend the state health insurance scheme law number 7 of 2011 to provide free health care services to disabled persons, unemployed and elderly in the state.

Interestingly, both the people oriented bills which were enacted by the Honourable House within 6 months as sponsored by the Chairman of the Health Committee, are now awaiting Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's assent and implementation.

Apart from the legislations, according to the record, the legislator was able to sponsor a motion on matter of urgent public interest following the devastating effects of October unusual flood disaster caused by the release of huge volume of water from Lagdo Dam by the Cameroon republic which wrecked havoc in some Local Government Areas in the state.

With these giant strides, Hon. Hamidu Sajo Lekki has endeared himself into the hearts of his voters across his constituents and will continue to enjoy their unwavering support as he strives to provide them with more dividends of democracy.
