PROTEST: INHABITANTS OF GIREI MISINTERPRETED MY ORDER- CP MADAKI


Following a protest by the citizens of Girei Local Government Area Adamawa state over rampant cases of kidnapping, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Audu Adamu Madaki, has said that the protesters have misinterpreted his order for the transfer of kidnappers from Girei Divisional Police headquarters to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Yola.

The inhabitants of Girei LGA on the early hours of Tuesday took to the streets and protested the alleged arrest and release of suspected kidnappers in the area.

But reacting on the development to newsmen in his office today, the Commissioner of Police in the state stated that the people of the Girei misinterpreted his order for the transfer of some of the suspects recently arrested to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Yola for proper investigation.

CP Madaki told newsmen that already, the suspects have been charged to court and prosecution has commenced, explaining that the people of Girei failed to understand the reason behind the transfer of the suspects from Girei Divisional Police headquarters to CID.

He said that the people were thinking that the command had transferred the suspects to Yola so as to be released, urging on the Chairman of the LGC and other stakeholders in the area to enlighten their citizens on his order.

He pointed out that the command is committed to addressing not only the issue of kidnapping but armed banditry and all forms of criminal activities in the state.
