YOLA APPEAL COURT UPTURNS 15 YEAR JAIL TERM AGAINST POLICE OFFICER


The Appeal Court sitting in Yola, the Adamawa state capital has nullified the 15 year jail term slammed on a police officer by Yola high court for culpable homicide.

The police officer, Lazarus Daniel, was serving with Fufore Divisional Police headquarters in Adamawa state until the incident.

It could be recalled that the Yola high, presided by Honourable Justice Abdul-Aziz Waziri sentenced the officer for 15 years imprisonment for murder.

The convict who was not satisfied with the verdict appealed the judgement to the Court of Appeal in order to seek for redress.

But delivering its judgement on the matter during the week, the Appeal Court presided by Justice Chidi Nwaoma Uwa discharged and acquitted the officer.
