ADAMAWA CENTRAL SENATOR DISTRIBUTES 2,400 BAGS OF FERTILIZER



The Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas, on Thursday, flagged off the distribution of 2,400 bags fertilizer to his electorate.


The fertilizer were distributed to the Senator's electorate across 7 Local Government Areas which comprise central district including Fufore, Yola South, Yola North, Girei, Song, Gombi and Hong.


The gesture by the distinguished Senator is aimed at boosting food production in the district and Adamawa state in general.


Speaking while flagging off the distribution of the commodity in Yola, Adamawa State Capital, Senator Iya Abbas, said that the fertilizer will be distributed free of charge to his electorate across 76 political wards.


Senator Iya Abbas, explained that out of 2,400 bags of fertilizer, 1,800 bags will be distributed today, while 600 bags will be distributed to dry season farmers, saying that every political ward is expected to get 20 bags each.


He stated that he had bought 725 bags and that he had entered partnership with Chemical Research Institute in Zaria, Kaduna state which also supplied 425 bags while 1,200 bags were donated to them by the National Assembly.


He disclosed that the fertilizer will be conveyed to all the LGAs and wards and be distributed free of charge, saying that he had already settled the transportation bill and cautioned those responsible for distribution not to ask a dime from anybody.


He informed the gathering that there are forms which will be distributed to households across his constituency and that after filling it correctly, the beneficiaries will be given N50,000 each.


Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, thanked his Steering Committee, his Aides and teeming electorate across the district for their support snd corporation. 


In his welcome address, the Director General Senator Iya Abbas Campaign Organisation, Alh. Usman Kaura, who was represented by Alh. Musa Chai, commended the Senator for the gesture.


The DG noted that the gesture is coming at a time when farmers need fertilizer to boost their farm produce, and urged them to judiciously utilise the commodity for the purpose intended.


Also, Hon. Adamu Baba Mustapha, described him as silent achiever and commended him for his tireless effort in empowering his electorate, saying that the Senator is leading in sponsoring of bills and motions for good governance.
