YOLA COURT REMANDS MAN FOR KILLING MINOR, DUMPING CORPSE IN RIVER



The Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has remanded a 22 years old, Muhammed Mustapha, for allegedly kidnapping, killing and dumping the corpse of 8 years old first cousin in a river.


The Chief Magistrate Court presided by Alhaji Musa Adamu, ordered the remand of the defendant when he was arraigned before him by the prosecution and adjourned the case to the 21st August, 2024.


Magistrate Adamu adjourned the matter to enable the police duplicate the case file and transmit same to DPP for vetting and legal advice.


The defendant was arraigned before the court by the prosecutor, Inspector Boyom Alex, who earlier on tendered First Information Report used in arraigning the defendant.


The 22 years old defendant, Muhammed Mustapha of Madina, Mubi North LGA, allegedly perpetrated the heinous crime on the 25th July, 2024.


The defendant abducted the deceased and his first cousin identified as Muhammed Auwal (aka Khalifa) and demanded the sum of N2.8million before releasing him.


According to the prosecution, the defendant had intoxicated his victim and later strangulated him to his death, packed the remains in a bag and dumped it in a river.
