STAKEHOLDERS LAUD ADHA, FINTIRI FOR STEPS TO ESTABLISH TRANSPORT AGENCY



Cross section of stakeholders in transport sector in Adamawa state have applauded House of Assembly as well as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for taking steps to establish transport agency.


The stakeholders commended Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley led assembly as well as Governor Fintiri, for a robust steps towards establishing the agency.


The stakeholders made the commendation at one day public hearing organised by an Ad-hoc Committee on Transport Agency headed by the member representing Mayo Belwa constituency, Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu.


The public hearing attracted stakeholders including Ministry of Transport, Adamawa Transport Company (Adamawa Sunshine), NURTW, Association of Private Drivers, FRSC, VIO, DSS among others.


Likewise, the event was attended by lawmakers including the Majority Leader, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa), Hon. Ahmed Jingi Belel (Maiha), Hon. Sahabo Yohanna Jauro (Mubi South), Hon. Geoffrey Bulus (Leko/Koma), Hon. Calvin Kefas (Toungo)


The bill is tagged, "A bill aimed to establish a Road Transport,Traffic, and Motor Vehicle Administration Agency in Adamawa.


In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee and Member representing Mayo Belwa Constituency, Musa Mahmud Kallamu, called on the participants to make positive contributions aimed at making the bill an all encompassing. 


Hon. Kallamu, pointed out that the legislation is very significant more especially in the transport sector, explaining that if finally passed and assented to by Governor Fintiri, it will play a crucial role in harmonizing the transport sector in the state, thereby enhancing its operations.


According to him, the bill is crafted in such a way that will improve the state’s internally generated revenue for the services of the state as well as ensure the security of lives and property of the citizens. 


He further called on the participants to present both verbal and written inputs to help refine and perfect the proposed legislation.


In her remarks, the Commissioner Ministry of Transport Development, Hon. Wunfe Brina Anthony, commended the committee snd by extension the assembly for organising the public hearing.


She further lauded the lawmakers for their continuous support to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, led administration which she attributed it to the ongoing transformation in the state. 


The female Commissioner urged the lawmakers to sustain their support to the present administration to enable it execute more developmental projects in Adamawa.
