GOMBI RESIDENTS OBSERVE SANITATION EXERCISE, COMMEND FINTIRI, CHAIR



Residents of Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa State on Saturday, observed the monthly sanitation exercise reintroduced by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.


During the exercise, filling stations, shops, Gombi main market were closed down to allow people clean their surroundings for a healthy environment.


Security agencies including police, military men, civil defence among others mounted road blocks and restricted the movement of both private and commercial vehicles as part of effort towards enforcing the order.


Cross section of the residents applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration for reintroducing the monthly sanitation exercise and commended the Chairman of the LGC, Hon. Mark Ishaya, for his support to see to the success of the exercise.


Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, the Zonal Coordinator Gombi Zonal Office Ministry of Environment Adamawa State, Eng. Ginshi Daude Obwams, commended the residents for their compliance.


Eng. Ginshi, advocated for the sustenance of the exercise to have a clean and healthy environment, saying that keeping clean environment will go along way in reducing diseases such as malaria, typoid snd cholera among others.


He pointed out that the movement was restricted for the exercise which according to him was successful and hailed Governor Fintiri for reintroducing the order and the Chairman of the LGC for his support to them.


Eng. Ginshi, noted that the exercise wouldn't have been successful without the Chairman's support and corperation, explaining that Governor Fintiri did not reintroduced the exercise because of his personal interest but that of the citizens.


Also speaking, the Chairman Nigeria Automobile Technician Association (NATA) Gombi LGA, Alh. Bashiru Salisu, commended the policy which brings about clean environment, and called on the citizens to turn out for the exercise at the end of the month.


On his part, the Chairman Vulcanizers Association of Nigeria, Auwal Abdullahi, said that people participated in the exercise and appealed to them to come out at the end of every month to clean their environment.


Baring her mind, Lucy Emmmanuel, advocated for more awareness to enable people participate in the exercise and pledged to continue to do her part for a clean environment.
