ADHA: BILL TO ESTABLISH CLIMATE CHANGE COMMISSION SCALES 1ST READING



In his effort towards sponsoring bills for good governance in Adamawa state, the member representing Mubi South constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Sahabo Yohanna Jauro, has floated a new bill aimed at establishing new climate change commission.


According to the lawmaker, the new bill is meticulously crafted to establish Adamawa State State Climate Change Commission to provide for the mainstreaming of climate change actions.


The bill scaled first reading at the assembly on Monday, following a motion to that effect by the sponsor and expected to be read for 2nd tme at the next legislative day.


Cross section of the Hon. members unanimously supported the 1st reading of the bill considering its significance when put to voice vote by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, while presiding the sitting.  


The legislation is tagged," a bill for a law to establish Adamawa State State Climate Change Commission to provide for the mainstreaming of climate change actions and matters thereto".


If passed and assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the legislation will create a new commission saddled with the responsibility of handling issues concerning climate change.
