DISQUALIFY GUYUK LGC CHAIR FOR FORGERY, LP URGES TRIBUNAL

The Chairmanship Candidate of the Labour Party for Guyuk LGC in the just concluded LGCs election in Adamawa state, Hon. Gandume Gamaliel, has urged the LG Election Petitions Tribunal to disqualify Hon. Barr. Kassa Dangi Shallom, over allegation of forgery.

Hon. Barr. Kassa Shallom and the new chairman of Guyuk LGC, was declared winner of the 13th July, 2024, election conducted by the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC).

In his petition filed before the Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal presided by Hon. Daniel John, the Labour Party candidate, asked the tribunal to disqualify Hon. Barr. Shallom, for contesting election with forged certificate.

Hon. Gamaliel, alleged that Hon. Kassa, had submitted a forged certificate of the West African Examination Council with examination number 10502120, to the screening committee which he had used in seeking for election.

He told the tribunal that the screening committee failed/refused to disqualify him in spite of the fact that the matter was in public domain.

According to him, Hon. Barr. Shallom, was not disqualify to contest the election or hold office as chairman of the LGC as at the time of conducting the election and ought to be disqualified by the committee after presenting forged certificate.

He averred that he was surprised that even at the time of election Hon. Barr. Shallom's name was still on the ballot, saying that his humble self and ADC candidate were the candidates who contested lawfully.

He prayed for an order of the tribunal directing the state electoral body to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Hon. Barr. Kassa Shallom, as winner of the exercise.

He urged the tribunal to declare him (Hon. Gandume) being the 2nd runner up who was cleared to contest and hold of the chairman as the duly elected winner of the election having polled the second highest votes.
