Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 48 years old man identified as Abubakar Suleiman, for defrauding unsuspecting citizens of the state.
The suspect, who hails from Mararaba Mubi, in Adamawa State was arrested in Yola, Adamawa state capital while attempting to dupe a man and since confessed to the crime.
Abubakar confessed while being interrogated by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, that he had been perpetrating the crime for the past 2 in Uba in Hong and Michika LGAs.
He further confessed that he put his hands in the pocket of co-passenger on tricycle along bank road in Yola and removed money, but unfortunately, the money fell on the ground and all of them noticed what he did.
He narrated that the man stopped the tricycle and picked his money, saying that after counting his money, the man and the people around alerted the police who came and arrested him.
He said that he normally distract the attention of passengers on tricycle by calling the name of somebody and used the opportunity and remove money from their pockets and buy food with it.
After the interrogation, the PPRO said that the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, had assured that the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
