ADHA LEGISLATOR FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD ITEMS



The member representing Shelleng constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Bulus Napthali Kantomon, on Saturday, flagged off the distribution food items.


Speaking while flagging off the distribution of the food items, the Speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, commended the member for the food intervention programme.


Rt. Hon. Bathiya, said that the gesture will bring succour to his constituents at this time that citizens are passing through hardship and applauded the electorate for voting the member.


According to him, it was the Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) that supplied the food items on behalf of the Hon. Members with the financial support given to them by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.


He said that the member has been doing everything possible to provide good representation to his constituents, and assured that very soon, they will be coming to Shelleng LG to commission projects being executed by the lawmaker.


In his remarks, the member representing Shelleng constituency, Hon. Bulus Napthali Kantomon, explained that the food items provided is to appreciate them for their support and corporation during and after election.


Hon. Kantomon, thanked Governor Fintiri for his support to the members, adding that the programme will not have been successfull without his support and that of the Speaker.


Commenting, the DG of PAWECA, Dr. Micheal Zira, who was represented by the Director Monitoring and Evaluation, Sani Abdulkadir, said that food support is worth commendation, and hailed the cordial working between the legislature and executive.


In his welcome address, the Chairman Shelleng LGC, Hon. Abubakar Musa, praised the member for the food intervention programme aimed at reducing hunger in the society.


The Chairman observed that the hardship is not only in Shelleng LGA but the entire nation, saying that the food intervention programme is coming at the right time considering the situation at hand.


He added that the gesture is a clear indication that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and the lawmakers are aware of the hardship people are passing through; hence, the decision to intervene.


In his goodwill message, a stakeholder, Mr. Ezera Dabo thanked the legislator for reaching out to his constituents with the food items, and advised the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the items as intended.


He charged the committee saddled with the responsibility of distributing the foodstuff to do justice in course of their assignment, and also thanked the speaker for gracing the event.
