The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Yola Branch has inaugurated its newly elected officials expected to steer the affairs of the association in the next 2 years.
Those elected and inauguarated include; Hassan G. Maidawa, Chairman, Fabarya A. Thliza, Vice Chairman, Joshua A. Waya, Secretary and Samira M. Attah, Assistant Secretary.
Others are; Rose S. Tarfa, Treasurer, Mohammed Abubakar, Financial Secretary, Promise R. Ajumebor, PRO and Jimmy J. Akor, Director Social.
Inaugurating the Exco, the Adamawa State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Nathan Musa, gave kudos to the electoral committee for conducting peaceful,free and fair election.
Justice Nathan, told the new officials that their election is well deserved and however conveyed hearty congratulations on behalf of Adamawa Judiciary.
The CJ applauded the immediate past Exco for a successful tenure, saying that the leadership was felt, and that the successes recorded had raised the bar.
"In fact, as the head of the Judiciary, I really enjoyed working with you. The ongoing Exco have recorded many successes for the branch and indeed its members".
He urged the new officials to build on the achievements recorded by the past Exco in order to consolidate on the laudable programmes and projects embarked upon for the progress of the association.
" We in the Judiciary will continue to support and colloborate with you in all your activities. It is my prayers that NBA Yola branch will continue to succeed in its mandate in promoting rule of law for the good of the common man".
Justice Nathan Musa, advised them to carry all their members along for the success of their tenure, appealing to the members of the association to support and coorperate with the new leadership.
In his goodwill message, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, A. K. Jingi, stated that he was elated for the opportunity to witness the event and congratulated the new Exco.
He charged them to build on where their predecessors stopped and not to do less while piloting the affairs of the association in the next 2 years.
A. K. Jingi, used the opportunity and commended the CJ for the revolution in the Judiciary and described him as a visionary, committed and proactive CJ.
On his part, a Legal Luminary and erstwhile Chairman of the association, Chief L. D. Nzadon, congratulated them and wished them successful tenure.
Chief Nzadon, pointed out that all organisations in the country have associations, but that legal profession stands out as a distinguished and honourable profession, explaining that the profession is the most outstanding in the world.
Responding on behalf of the new Exco, the Chairman, Hassan G. Maidawa, thanked NBA members for electing them, and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The Chairman pledged the readiness of his new Exco to addressing some of the challenges confronting the association within a reasonable time.
"This Exco will strive to ensure a harmonious working relationship between them and especially ensure that members of the Bar maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and decorum in their relationship with the Bench and the public at large", Hassan stated.
While assuring their commitment to tackle some of the challenges including non -regular meetings, lack of active participation of senior members, poor welfare more especially for young lawyers among others, Hassan G. Maidawa, lauded the CJ and other Judges for always giving NBA listening ears.
