ABSENCE OF WITNESS STALLS N80M FRAUD TRIAL OF EX-GOV NYAKO's CSO

The continuation of trial of a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, and former Chief Security Officer to a former Governor, Murtala Nyako, was on Wednesday, stalled due to the absence of prosecution witness.

The CSO to erstwhile Governor Nyako, Sheriff Abubakar Rabiu, is standing trial before Adamawa State High Court of Justice, presided by Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman, over alleged N80million property fraud.

The trial, which was scheduled for continuation today, was further adjourned to the 18th October, 2022 due to the unavailability of prosecution witness.

It was gathered that the prosecution's witness billed to testify on Wednesday, will be the 4th and the last witness to testify against the Defendant in the matter.

At the resumed hearing, the prosecution’s counsel, A. M. Iliyasu (Senior State Counsel II), asked the court for an adjournment to enable him call his last witness to testify in court.

On his part, counsel to the defendant, S. J. Abul, said that he painfully conceded to the application filed by the prosecution counsel because it was the same application he had filed on the 27th June, 2022.

It was at this juncture that the presiding Judge, Hapsat Abdulrahaman, adjourned the case for continuation of trial on the 18th October, 2022.
