A 62 year old herbalist, Godwin Sanda, is currently cooling his heels in police cell in Adamawa State for allegedly raping a 14 year old girl with mental disorder.
The accused who hails from Zangun community in Numan Local Government Area, was arrested by the police on the 23rd July, 2022 for the alleged offence.
The police command in a statement by its image maker, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Sunday, said the suspect raped his victim brought to him for treatment.
According to police, the victim who was suffering from mental disorder, was rushed to the suspect for possible medication, and that the man advised her mother who brought her to return home pending time the suspect will recover.
SP Nguroje, said it was as a result of the mother's absence for a period of Five (5) days that the suspect used the opportunity and had unlawful canal knowledge of the victim.
After raping her, according to him, the victim escaped from his premises and returned to her parent's house as result of which her parents reported the matter to the police in Numan.
"The suspect is undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following the order from the office of Commissioner of Police, CP S. K Akande, " SP Nguroje added.
It advised the public more especially parents to be wary of questionable characters within their neighborhoods and always seek for expert's opinion before taking a decision especially on issues concerning health generally
