42 SUSPECTS INCLUDING "SHILA" BOYS, SEX WORKERS ARRESTED



In an effort to mop up remnants of "Shila" boys and other criminal elements in the society, the operatives of Zone 3 Headquaters Yola, in Adamawa state have arrested 42 accused of various offences.




The operatives recovered fabricated Iron used for house breaking, hard drugs, dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, scissors, bottles containing liquids locally known as suck and die, bucket, pot among others.


This is contained in a release by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola, AIG Daniel Sokari Pedro, and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Zone, SP Yusuf Adamu.


"The Operatives swiftly acted and arrested 42 suspects in connection with various offences ranging from being in possession of hardrugs, house breaking/ burglary, brothel among others," SP Adamu said.


According to the release, the arrest followed directives by AIG to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations to wipe out the remnants of "Shila" boys and other criminal elements within the zone. 


He added that this to complement the efforts of the two components states (Adamawa/Taraba) under the zone, and called on the general public to be vigilant and report any infraction of law to the nearby police formation for appropriate action.


In another development, the AIG has presented cheques of N500,000 and N200, 000 to each of the next of kins of 3 deceased police officers who died while on duty. 


Presenting the cheques to the families at the Zonal Headquarters, the AIG advised them to make judicious use of the IGP's family support welfare packages in order to cushion the effects of the loss.
