ADAMAWA CP PRAISES NUJ FOR SUPPORT IN CRIME FIGHTING




Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, S. K. Akande, has commended the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) State Council and its members for their support in the fight against crime.



CP Akande, gave the commendation on Tuesday, while receiving the new officials of the NUJ Adamawa State Council led by its Chairman, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan, on a courtesy call.


He noted with satisfaction the tremendous support the command has been receiving from Journalists, expressing optimism that the support will enable the command surmount challenges more especially insecurity. 


According to him, journalism is justice while press is policing, explaining that anyone who is a pressman is automatically a police man, describing a journalist as just person whose major concern is to ensure peace, unity and progress.


CP Akande, further assured on the determination of the police command towards ensuring  justice to all citizens while carrying out their duties.


Earlier, speaking while leading the exco of the union, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Ishaka Donld Dedan, said that the new officials were at the command to introduce themselves.


Comrade Dedan, applauded the CP for striving assidously towards the reduction in crime and criminalty in the state, saying that the state has recorded breakthrough in its fight against insecurity since the CP assumed office.


"We have seen how suspects are being arrested, paraded and prosecuted since you assumed office as CP Adamawa State Police Command". Comrade Ishaka Dedan stated.


He intimated the CP that Adamawa Journalists see police as friends as a result of coordial working relationship, assuring that the members of the union will do justice, balance their reports and abide by the code of ethics guiding the profession.


While pledging the NUJ's continued support to the command, Comrade Ishaka, Donal Dedan, however urged him and the command to intensify effort towards protecting lives and property of the citizens.


Likewise, during the visit, the CP presented a plaque as a mark of honour to NUJ so as to spur the council and its members to continue in rendering social responsility.
