Jubilation as Gubo Yungur Visits Gben District



There was jubilation in Salasa, headquarters of Gben District in Yungur Chiefdom as the Paramount Ruler of the Chiefdom, His Royal Majesty, Johnson Diyo Matalo and his large entourage stormed the district on a familiarisation visit. News Platform 


The visit which was the first official tour to the district by the Royal Father since ascension on the exalted throne was unique as well as historic as sons and daughters of the district within and in diaspora trooped out in their large number and welcomed their Paramount Ruler.


According to the inhabitants of the district, Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo, was the first Paramount Ruler to visit Salasa which made the event historic; hence, the celebration and presentation of gifts to the traditional ruler.


During the event, mammoth crowd who thronged the venue of the event, showered praises on the Paramount Ruler as well as offered prayers for God to grant him wisdom, long life to rule the newly created chiefdom in peace and serenity for the progress of the chiefdom.


Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo was accompanied to Salasa by the Member representing Song constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, Chairman Song LGC, Hon. Idris Yahaya and his Vice, Hon. Donan Prambe, Hon. Stephen Garba, Sole Administrator Dumne Development Area.


Other dignitaries who added colour to the event include the Chairman Yungur Area Development Association (YADA), former Sector Commander of the FRSC, Tapraita, leadership of various political parties, religious leaders, ward and village heads and host of others.


Speaking at the event, HRM, Gubo Yungur, Johnson Diyo Matalo, who was visibly elated with the warm reception accorded him, appreciated his subjects across the district and prayed God to bless them in many folds.


Gubo Yungur thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for creating districts, chiefdoms and emirates and described him as a courageous man who has the love of his people at heart; thereby, meeting their yearnings and aspirations.


He called on all his subjects to thank Governor Fintiri, Adamawa State House of Assembly and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Edgar Amos, urging them not to relent in praying for them and all those on the position of authority, saying that the event wouldn't have been possible without Fintiri's effort in creating chiefdoms and emirates.


He also commended the Acting District Head of Gben for mobilising his subjects to welcome him and for implementing the resolution which they had adopted during seminar which he had personally organised for the district heads and other stakeholders.


The Royal Father pointed out that the District Head had impressed him within the short period of tme on helm of affairs in the district and appealed to the people of Gben to rally round him to enable him succeed.


He promised to wade into the issue of boundary between Gben and Suktu districts respectively for peaceful coexistence.


He also spoke on the issue of farmer-herder clashes and attributed same to lack of patience among them and pleaded with them to exercise patience and forgive each other for them to be forgiven.


While applauding peaceful coexistence amongst farmers-herders in Gben District in general, Gubo Yungur assured the gathering that very soon he will come to the district with colanut and give it to both farmers and herders for them to exchange same with a promise to continue live in peace and harmony.


Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo said that the chiefdom will not take the issue of farmers and herders lightly and called on them to respect each other's business.


In his remarks, the Member representing Song Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, said that the House of Assembly enacted laws which brought about the creation of districts, chiefdoms and emirates aimed at bringing government closer to the people at the grassroots.


Hon. Emmanuel Kefas who is the Chairman ADHA Committee on Security appealed to them to support their traditional rulers and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration to continue in providing good governance.


The Lawmaker called for the creation of security depots aimed complementing the effort of security agencies in providing security during rainy season and havest, saying no meaningful achievements will be recorded in a chaotic society.


Also speaking, the Executive Chairman Song LGC, Idris Yahaya, pledged the readiness of the LGC towards supporting traditional institutions and stressed the importance of peace amongst people.


Hon. Idris used the opportunity and called on local security agencies to ensure the registration of their locally made guns, vowed to deal ruthlessly with anyone who is hell bent in undermining peace in the LGA or harbouring criminal elements.


He further warned against kidnapping, armed robbery, selling of farmlands, and mining activities without permission from relevant authorities, assuring that the LGC will commence employment shortly after screening exercise and that the employment will spread across all the 11 political wards of the LGC.


Hon. Idris granted verbal approval to the Acting District Head to create security depot to complement the effort of security agencies and promised to give the depot necessary support in order to succeed.


In his welcome address, the Acting District Head of Gben, Daniel Shadrack Barub, thanked Gubo Yungur, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, Hon. Idris Yahaya and hosts of others for the visit and pledged 100 percent support to the Paramount Ruler.


The Acting District Head disclosed that the district has 28, 272 population based on the projection of 2006 National Population Census, saying that the district was created in 2024 after 3rd attempt in 24 years and thanked Governor Fintiri, Speaker Bathiya Wesley and members of the state assembly for considering people of Gben.


He revealed that the district has 2 substantive village heads and that his subjects are mostly farmers, business men and women, civil servants who live peacefully.


He said that as Royal Father his primary function is to ensure peace and unity and promised to do everything within his powers to ensure peace, fairness and justice to everyone irrespective of religion, economic and political backgrounds.


He further assured his subjects of his commitment to ensure continuous peace between farmers and herders and pleaded with the Gubo Yungur to support his newly created district to develop.


Mr. Shadrack enumerated some of challenges facing the district including boundary issue between Gben and Suktu districts respectively, and appealed to him to wade into the matter.


He further appealed for the construction of office of the district head, royal house, creation of new village heads in Jimbo and Mbai communities and appealed for the establishment of security depot to complement security operatives in the maintenance of peace during rainy season harvest and after.


Several stakeholders who spoke at the event including leadership of security depot Dumne, Chairman Gben Farmers Association, Sarki Fulani, representative of Gben Youth commended Gubo Yungur for the visit and hammered on the need to continue to coexist peacefully.
