A 19 year old man, Marwan Abubakar along side 2 others have been remanded in prison custody in Yola, Adamawa state over allegations of armed robbery and several other offences.
The Chief Magistrate Court I sitting in Yola ordered the remand of the 3 defendants after they had pleaded guilty to all the alleged offences.
Magistrate Alheri Ishaku remanded Marwan and Iliyasu Abubakar for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, house breaking and theft in a dwelling house contrary to sections 60, 287, 337 and 279 of the penal code law.
She also ordered the remand of Marwan and Musa Muhammed for different offences boredering criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, criminal force, assault and extortion.
She subsequently adjourned the 2 cases respectively to the 10th July, 2023 for further mention.
While arraigning the defendants earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector S.S. Nicholas, informed the court that Marwan and Iliyasu committed the alleged offences on the 12th June, 2023.
According to him, the 2 defendants and Ibrahim Mallam(now at large) armed themselves with weapons and invaded the residence of Aitiya Wesley at Kofare and carted away several items.
He alleged that the trio trespassed into her house, burgled same and made away with a handset, 8 different wristwatch, pair of canvass, ceiling fans, clothes which amounted to N611,000.
Likewise, he told the court that Marwan and Musa Muhammed had on the 10 June, 2023 stormed the residence of Emeka Oneyi and Ugochukwu of Demsawo where they attacked them and extorted a phone valued N65,000 and the sum of 7,500 cash.
He said that during investigation, defendants had mentioned the name of Ibrahim Mallam and Sabiu Musa(aka Maikware) who are (now at) as their accomplices.
Insp. Nicholas told the court that investigation is yet to be completed because other suspects are still at large, and the fact that one of the count charges is capital in nature.
