Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday urged the State Emergency Management Agency(ADSEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) respectively to provide relief materials to the communities affected by flooding.
The assembly presided by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, urged the agencies to provide relief materials to the victims of recent flooding particularly in Lamurde and Fufure as well as Yola South, Yola North, Girei, Demsa and Numan LGAs.
The assembly's resolution was sequel to a matter of public importance sponsored by the member representing Lamurde constituency, Hon. Bauna Myandasa.
Earlier, Hon. Bauna briefed his colleagues on the recent flooding and how it affected some communities in his political ward, explaining that the natural disaster submerged farmlands and a school.
Hon. Bauna urged the assembly to impress on the ADSEMA and NEMA to as a matter of urgency supply relief materials to the affected communities to ameliorate their suffering.
In his contribution on the motion, the member representing Mubi North Constituency, Hon. Paul Samuel, said that the flooding affects several communities in their constituencies annually and sought for an assistance for the victims.
On his part, the member representing Fufore/Gurin, Hon. Umar Bobbo Ismaila, said that several communities in Fufore and other LGAs who reside at the bank of River Benue were affected.
After contributions from the lawmakers, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, urged both emergency agencies to supply relief materials to the communities affected by the flooding. News Platform.
