No wounder in 2023 when it was time for people to contest for elections no body showed interest to contest for the House of Assembly seat under PDP having realised that Rt.Hon Bathiya is contesting for the second term.

His victory had manifested right from the time he picked the nomination forms.

During the general elections, Rt.Hon Bathiya Wesley worn the election with a very wide margin defeating his closes rival from the the All progressives Congress APC.

On his inauguration alongside other 24 members of the state Assembly on the 13th of June 2023,his colleagues unanimously endorsed him as the speaker of the 8th Assembly.

Since his emergence as the speaker people across the state have been pouring encomiums on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and members of the state Assembly for bringing on-board someone that is loved by all Adamawa citizens.

This is demonstrated as people from all walks of life, youths, women, the  business class among others continue to troop into the house to identify with the present leadership under Rt.Hon Bathiya Wesley.

This is an indication that the second tenure of the Fintiri administration will be more fruitful to the state than the first tenure as the speaker during the inaugural speech assured the house’s readiness and commitment to work together with the executive arm in transforming the state.

Just within his one month as presiding officer of the House Rt.Hon speaker with support of his colleagues successfully and peacefully constituted the principal officers aa well as standing committees whom have since commence oversight functions with some resolutions passed.
