(Response to Ahmad Sajoh' s Piece)
By George Kushi
Ahmad Sajoh in an attempt to derail the gullible and to also sustain their followership on false hope wrote an article where he mentioned in part that "Talking about what happened must begin from the evaluation of the matter before the judges. Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani has gone to the tribunal to challenge the declaration of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as Governor on grounds that such declaration does not meet the minimum legal requirements as prescribed in the electoral act and guidelines of the electoral umpire... The Fintiri team felt otherwise and even went further to consider her submission as unqualified to be given a hearing at the tribunal. BOOM. The tribunal said no"the petition deserves to be heard and heard to the full value of its merits "
Well it is said that ignorance of the law is not an excuse, it appears Sajoh is not the least knowledgeable on court proceedings if not, he would have known that The motion of the Respondents objecting to the competence of the petition before the tribunal was not 'rejected' as posited by him. Ruling on the objection was reserved for final judgment because that is the law. When the court asks parties to proceed with their cases to be heard on its merit in the face of an objection that could terminate it, it's not the same as the objection having no merit. It's to ensure that time is not wasted in giving a ruling when that time is of essence.
Having to address comments by the utterly fatigued desperate Binani camp has since long become a trying venture. Addressing their futile attempt to win public sympathy is nothing but an errant mission by quixotic knights. When issues are presented ,they should at least appeal to popular opinion, especially when they are right.
Propagating a cause that is false, misleading and contrary to the will of the people is bound to fail. So, once again as in the past ,I enjoin Binani' s campaigners to sheath their political swords and probably start working on a not so distant three years for the next round of elections. Difficult as it may seem to accept this fact,it is their near only hope .
Rulings are made based on laws and facts. It is evidence presented before the court that will determine the judge's decision ruling.
If wishes were horses, anyone would ride to the home of their dreams. Unfortunately, Ahmad Sajoh's dreams and wishes have been determined (shattered) by the people's resolve to place Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as governor of Adamawa. The facts are there for all to see. Even in a court of law,in a country where justice is a supreme virtue, Fintiri's victory is assured. The scandalous outcome of the clear breach of the law by Hudu and the ludicrous acceptance by Binani is still fresh in the minds of Adamawa citizens.
The tribunal is a body enacted to uphold the law. It is a body that should not bow to the capricious sentiments or be lures by sugar- coated rhetorics. To validate an election does not require a fun-fare engineered by cheap populist propaganda. Her decision to use the despicable ultra vires declaration by Hudu is in itself a slight to her intelligence and that of those that conceived the idea.
We live in an enlightened and civilized society whereby the jaundiced attempt to use technicalities to rob the people of Adamawa of their victory and it is bound to fail.
The author (Sajoh) is right in deducing that some PDP members have a perspective similar to their's , but failed to mention that there are more APC members that acknowledge Ahmadu Fintiri as the genuine winner of the election.
Sajoh said and I quote "Unfortunately, many people in the opposition PDP were more factual than some of us within the APC"
Yet he couldn't highlight what was factual and what was not. Unfortunately this is so UNFORTUNATE!!
It is gratifying that Ahmad Sajoh acknowledges that only a court or tribunal has the final say. So what is all this noise about? If we all must wait on the judgement of the tribunal, then there is no need for all this noise.
The facts will be laid bare at the tribunal. If needs be Hudu Ari their devil's advocate might as well appear if his pending case with INEC permits. Let the tribunal decide.
This is our wish since it has gone to that. But one thing for sure is that this vucious propaganda of lies cannot pervert justice nor change its course. Lies will forever be lies.
As we all await the grand appearance of Binani's star witness and advocate,Hudu to start his defense in a case tabled by INEC and the Nigeria Police, Ahmad Sajoh had rather start writing his next treatise for his principal Binani. And the other interested onlookers in Yola should gear themselves for the Adamawa "Show of the Decade"as the event will be of significant value;it will be a case of " Let justice prevail "
Another aspect is that the public Will have the opportunity to see for themselves the unique spectacle of viewing the rare specimen that Hudu Ari represents. This time around the Hudu apologist will have to keep shut as his employers,INEC tells us what he was supposed to do and for him to explain to us if that is what he did .
Sajoh said they are "hopeful" Well I put it to him that Hope doesn't make a case and wins it but facts and the evidences placed before the Court vis-a-vis the law.
With the ticking... It is just a matter of time!!!
