NUMAN RESIDENTS INCLUDING PLWD CONDUCT SANITATION

Residents of Numan Local Government Area in Adamawa state have carried out monthly sanitation exercise with a view to keeping clean environment.

During the exercise, a Person Living with Disability identified as Lazarus Simon, also took part in the exercise so as to contribute his part in promoting clean and healthy environment.

Likewise, during the exercise there was presence of security agencies including military, police, civil defense, vigilante groups and staff from the LGC and that of Ministry of Environment who restricted the movement of vehicles and enforced the exercise.

Speaking to newsmen, the Zonal Coordinator Ministry of Environment, Numan Zonal Officer, Patience Harris Peter, described Saturday's exercise as a successfull one compared to the previous ones.

Patience said that the security agencies have given them support which brought about the success of the exercise, saying that the residence on their part have done their best in sanitising their surroundings.

She commended the Chairman of the LGC, Hon. Innocent Koto, for the support given to them which saw to the success of the monthly sanitation exercise.

She further commended the people for participating in the exercise, saying that sanitising their surroundings will help in preventing some diseases and have a healthy and clean environment for their habitation.

Also speaking, a Staff of the Ministry of Environment Numan Zonal Office, Ayuba Gabriel, applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for reintroducing the monthly sanitation exercise to keep clean environment.

Ayuba, said that they used to face challenge from commercial tricyclists and truck drivers because of their disobedience, saying that the security agencies more especially the military have addressed the challenge.

On his part, a Physically Challenged Person, Lazarus Simon, said that though he is physically challenged does not stop him from participating in the exercise, saying that the sanitation is to enable them have a clean environment.

He appealed to the inhabitants of the LGA not to relent in taking part in the exercise, and called on the government to come to his aid to enable him get what he will take care of himself considering his situation.
