Magistrate M. A. Adamu, sentenced Fatima Abubakar, 37, of Sanda Makama B ward in Yola South LGA, after she was tried and found guilty for the offence of cruelty to persons.
The court slammed her 1 year prison term without option of fine and also ordered her to pay the sum of N100,000 to the government as well as N150,000 as medical bills for the treatment of the 2 kids whom she had maltreated.
He convicted the woman after the corroboration of the plea of guilt of the convict by the prosecution witness 1 who happens to the Investigative Police Officer. The IPO also tendered the confessional statement of the convict.
Meanwhile, the court has granted bail to the husband of the convict, Abubakar Yuguda, 54, of Galadima Faruk street in Yola South LGA who were arraigned jointly.
He admitted him to bail with an order that he must provide a surety who must be a Ward Head and subsequently adjourned the matter for continuation of hearing.
The couple were arraigned before the court by the prosecuting police officer, SP Iliya Akawu, for the offences which contravened sections 60 and 209 of the Penal Code Law, Adamawa State.
Fatima, bagged 1 year jail term for wilfully maltreating Usman Abubakar, 3-year old and her sister, Hafsat Abubakar, 2-year-old respectively in Yola South LGA.
