JUST IN: EX-MINISTER, DALUNG STORMS YOLA COURT TO SEEK JUSTICE FOR LAWAN




The former Minister of Youth and Sports, Barr. Solomon Dalung, on Tuesday, stormed the Chief Magistrate Court 4 in Yola, Adamawa State to seek justice A.A. Lawan Uba.


A.A.Lawan Uba, an Adamawa based politician has been in detention for 39 days for allegedly insulting Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.


Barr. Dalung had while addressing newsmen at the court premises, said that he came to the court as a Nigerian citizen to ensure justice for Lawan, who has been in detention for several days.


The immediate past Minister noted that as Nigeria citizen who always stands out for justice, he cannot afford to allow a fellow citizen to be denied justice, saying that Lawan, ought not to have been in prison because the offence is bailable in nature.


He challenged Adamawa state Judiciary to raise up and ensure justice delivery system and not in anyway compromise or allow cases to be politicised, and vowed to ensure justice for the politician.


NEWS PLATFORM recalls that the defendant allegedly accused Fintiri, of betraying him and his supporters and promised to ensure that the Governor does not win election for 2rd term come 2023.


He was arraigned before the Chief Magistrare court, presided by Magistrate Aminu Abdulkadir Maiha, for defamation of character and several other offences of which he vehemently denied committing it.


While standing trial before the trial court, Lawan through his Lead Counsel, D. S. Adebole, approached Adamawa State High Court presided by Hon. Justice Musa Usman, with a bail application.


But while ruling on the bail application filed by the embattled politician, Justice Musa Usman, refused to admit him to bail.


Meanwhile, the Magistrate court which had fixed today, for adoption of no case submission filed by Counsels to Lawan, however adjourned the matter to Wednesday, for the adoption.
