DRAMA AS COURT IMPOUNDS OFFICIAL VEHICLE OF GOMBI LGC BOSS OVER #38 MILLION DEBT

An Upper Area Court II in Adamawa state on Wenesday impounded the official vehicle of the Executive Chairman Gombi Local Government Council, Eng Dimas Shekel, over #38.125 million debt.

Also impounded include; the official vehicle of the Secretary of the LGC and 5 tractors over #38.125, salaries/entitlements owed to former Vice Chairman, Legislative Council Members and Supervisory Councillors of the LGC.

The action of the court followed earlier judgment  delivered by the State High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman on 7th April, 2011.

Justice Hafsat, had ordered the LGC to settle all the salaries and the entitlements of the affected ex-officials.

NEWS PLATFORM learnt that the former officials who worn the case against the LGC, went further and registered their case at the Upper Area Court II, presided over by Honourable John Daniel, for enforcement.

In its ruling on the 18th August, 2020, Honourable Daniel ordered that 7 tractors, other vehicles and any other moveable property belonging to the LGC be impounded.

Meanwhile, a mild drama played out at the premises of the court on Friday, when the official vehicle of the Chairman was impounded by the officials of the Court.

The Chairman personally drove his official vehicle to the court premises to sort out issues with the court pertaining the matter without an inkling that his vehicle will be impounded.

Hon. Dimas who appeared in black suit and black tainted Peugeot 406, was sighted by the officials of the Court when he parked and worked majestically, peacefully and happily to the Court hall, but unknown to him, the officials went after him and deflated all the tyres.

To his utter surprise and dismay, Hon. Dimsa, who went to carry his vehicle, discovered all the tyres of his vehicle deflated, rendering him stranded, hopeless and speechless.

At the time of filing in this report, the Chairman was sighted begging the officials of the Court to help him release the car, but his plea fell on deaf ears as no body cared to listen to him.

The LGC Boss had to call a friend who drove in with Peugeot 406, with government's registration number 07 ADGH to come and pick him and his belongings.

But one of the officials of the Court who spoke in confidence told NEWS PLATFORM that nobody asked him to bring the car, but he saved them from wasting their energy and resources going to Gombi to impound his vehicle.

NEWS PLATFORM who studied the court injunction could not find where the Chairman was forced to produce his vehicle, but out of ignorance, drove in with the vehicle.

At the time of filing in this report, the Chairman was left stranded, frustrated and expressing regret, blaming himself as to why he drove the car to the premises.
