Two middle age men have today been arraigned before Yola High Court in Adamawa state over allegations of criminal conspiracy to commit rape.
The suspects, Sadiq Ahmad, 25, and Mohammed Aliyu, 23, were alleged to have conspired and raped a 16 year old student.
According to prosecution, the accused on the 11th October, 2018, at Jimeta, in Yola North Local Government Area, agreed and committed illegal act by having non consensual carnal knowledge of the girl.
Sadiq and Mohammed, according to particulars of offence, conveyed their victim in a tricycle to Vunoklang ward in Girei LGA instead of her father's house in Rhumde Ward in Yola North LGA.
The suspects were said to have had sexual intercourse with their victim against her will or without her consent, the offence punishable under sections 60(1) and 261 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State, 2018.
But when the 3 count charges were read to the accused during the arraignment, they pleaded not guilty to the offence.
After pleading not guilty to the offence, Counsel to the prosecution, Z. Y. Usman, prayed the Honourable Court to adjourn the matter to enable him line up witnesses to proof his case.
The State High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Abdul-Azez Waziri, however adjourned the matter to 24 August, 2020, for the commencement of trial, and extended the bail of the defendants.
