NYCN GIVES FINTIRI PASS MARK OVER CREATION OF PAWECA...SAYS 2000 WILL BENEFIT

 

National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Adamawa State Chapter, on Tuesday gave Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, pass mark for creating Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) aimed at equipping teeming youths with various skills. 


The agency, according to the Youth Council, is saddled with the responsibility of empowering youths through skills acquisition that will make them become self reliant, reduce unemployment, poverty and redundancy more especially amongst youth in the state.


It could be recalled that Governor Fintiri, had during the opening ceremony at General Murtala Muhammad College (GMMC), Yola on Monday, reiterated his commitment towards alleviating poverty, idleness amongst youths, and revamping all sectors neglected by previous administrations. 


A statement by the Chairman NYCN in the state, Ambassador Ajine K. Delo, and made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Tuesday, said that the leadership and the members of the council are grateful to Governor Fintiri, led administration for creating the agency that will empower teeming youth in the state.


Ambassador Ajine, observed that the Governor has deemed it necessary to improve the living standard of Youths in Adamawa, hence the introduction of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA). 


According to him, about 2,000 youths are to start benefiting from the activities of the agency, explaining that the training programme is to take place in batches of 500 participants. 


He disclosed that the new agency will train  participants in various skills such as Solar installation, web design and graphics, soap making, fishery, poultry etc, and expressed hope that participants will be equipped with basic skills and knowledge needed to set up their small scale businesses.


He said that the leadership of NYCN and its members cannot thank Governor Fintiri enough for bringing to bear a well-defined programme aimed at rescuing Adamawa Youths, commending him for the giant strides recorded.


The Chairman lamented that Technical and Vocational Training has been a sector within the State that had long been neglected until its resuscitation by the Fintiri-led administration.


Ambassador Ajine K. Delo, prayed God to grant the Governor more wisdom in order to discharge his duties effectively, and to gainfully engage more youths in the state.
