Aside the birthday celebration, a book authored on the rich biography of the septuagenarian teacher turned politician and an erstwhile Member of the defunct Gongola State House of Assembly by an Agricultural Consultant and a Pastor, Dr. Samuel B. Kola, was also launched by top government functionaries, friends, associates, and well wishers who added colour to the historic event.
The birthday ceremony and a book launch which had in attendance Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri representated by his Deputy, Chief Crowther Seth, Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone, Speaker, his Deputy and other Honourable Members of the State House of Assembly, representatives of the 21 LGA Chairmen among other dignitaries home and abroad, congratulated the Stakeholder for attaining 75 years.
According to cross section of distinguished personalities who graced the occasion, Dr. Nashon Nabi Gubi, born on the 10th July, 1945, at Dobangki village in Mayo Belwa LGA, has succeeded in carving out a niche for himself as a grassroots mobiliser, an achiever and a politician per excellence.
A father to the present Member representing Nassarawo Binyeri constituency, Dr. Nashon Nabi who represented Mayo Belwa at the National Assembly in 1992, was equally lauded for his positive contributions towards the development of Mayo Belwa LGA most especially when he assumed office as the Executive Chairman of the LGC as well as Adamawa state in general.
Speaking at the event held at the Nurses House in Yola, the state capital over the weekend, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, congratulated Dr. Nashon Gubi, for cloaking 75 years, and wished him sound heath and God's protection.
He described the celebrant as a grassroots politician whose contributions will not go unnoticed, explaining that he possessed qualities which ought to be emulated by political office holders, and prayed God to continue to sustain him so that young politicians will continue to tap from his wealth of experience.
Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Crowther Seth, said said that Nashon Gubi had contributed enormously in inspiring/encouraging politicians, particularly the youths by admonishing them to participate actively in politics.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas applauded Nashon Gubi’s philanthropic gestures, particularly his investment in politics and nation building where he said he impressed him by his many feats.
Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas congratulated Baba on his 75th birthday and urged other political class especially the elderly to emulate the style of the celebrant by grooming the younger generation.
Baring his mind, the former Speaker of the House of Assembly and Chief Luncher of the book, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa commended Dr. Nashon Gubi for his contributions towards the political development in the state, and that the book published on him shares important words of wisdom of the celebrant.
On his part, the Chairman of the Occasion and Senator representing Adamawa South, Senator Binos Dauda Yero, said the book conveys an inspirational message on universal principles that are applicable in every country which can serve as a guide to millions of young politicians on how to succeed.
Also speaking, the representative of the 21 LGC Chairmen, Hon. Elkana Kados Fwa(Demsa LGC), congratulated the former Chairman, saying that the stakeholder deserved to be celebrated by all.
On his part, the author of the book entitled," Nashon Nabi Gubi Assiduous Grassroots Leader" Dr. Samuel B Kola, told the gathering that the principles of the book are devotion to knowledge, commitment to excellence and courage which highlighted the contributions of the celebrant to political development in the society.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Chief Facilitator and the Member representing Nasarawo Binyeri Constituency, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi, described the day as a happy and much fulfilled day for him, his siblings, friends and colleagues in politics.
Hon. Umar and son to the Celebrant, disclosed that it was indeed a rare occasion for them to celebrate a life of towering politician who traversed the vast landscape of Nigerian politics and delivered on his promises, and thanked God for his life and journey so far.
The Lawmaker pointed out that the book published on his father's biography is of significance to them, insisting that the book launch was an occasion to reflect on the past, present and future and draw enduring lessons for posterity, and thanked Governor Fintiri, Speaker and other Honourable Members of the House and several other personalities who graced the event.
In his vote of thanks the celebrant, Dr. Nashon Nabi Gubi thanked all those who attended the occasion and charged politicians to take time to expose the younger generations to their inspiring stories.
During the book launch, the Speaker of the State Assembly bought 5 copies of the book on behalf of his family with the sum of N250,000, Iya Abbas For N500,000, Adamawa State House of Assembly members N250,000 while the Chief Luncher, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa representing Yola South Constituency lunched the book with N500,000.
Others are Adamawa State ALGON N2.1 million, Mayo Belwa local government stakeholders N300,000; Sen Binos Dauda Yero N100,000.
