Danjuma Buba, GM The Scope Newspaper, Yola
General Manager Adamawa Press Limited, Publishers of The Scope Newspaper, Yola, Danjuma Buba says his appointment to head the organisation came to him as a surprise, pledging to put in his best for the development of the company.
However, he appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and his administration for finding him worthy to be saddled with the responsibility of steering the affairs of the publishing company.
It could be recalled that Governor Fintiri recently confirmed the appointment of Danjuma Buba and Willy Zalwalai as substantive GM and the Editor of the organisation respectively.
The General Manager who stated this while reacting over his confirmation during the week, said that he started working in the organisation from the scratch and never had an inkling of becoming the Manager of the company.
Danjuma said that he arose through the ranks and today, God has made it possible for him to be on the helm of affairs of the only surviving state owned newspaper in the north east if not the entire north, saying that the growth of the newspaper has a special place in his heart.
Working in this organisation for these years, according to him, has provided ample opportunity for him to know some of the operational challenges bedeveiling the company, and that with little support from government, the standard of the newspaper and the organisation entirely will improve.
He said he was the first staff that initiated and laid The Scope Newspaper into colour printing, and that he contributed his own part towards the sustenance and the growth of the tabloid, pointing out that his intention is to be role model for the upcoming ones.
According to him, he was supported that is why he is where he is today, and pledged to strive towards developing his staff, adding that building the capacity of the staff will be his topmost priority.
According to him: "No matter kind of machines one procured, he will not get any good result if those operating it are not adequately trained", and promised to strive towards trainning the staff to become competent.
He added that The Scope Newspaper does not have good working environment and that he has since tabled it before the board on the day of its inauguration.
What he needed at the moment, according to him, is support and cooperation from all the staff, noting that as far as he is concerned, every staff is important to him in the entire organisation, and called on them to work together for progress of the organisation.
Danjuma Buba appreciated God for keeping him alive, saying that many people that they entered into service together are no more alive, but he is sound and healthy, and also thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the appointment.
