The Chief Magistrate Court 1 sitting in Yola, Adamawa state has remanded, Yahaya Mohammed, a JSS 2 student for allegedly stealing 9 cell phones valued N428, 000.
The 20 year old Yahaya was remanded by Chief Magistrate Muhammed Abdullahi Digil, after he pleaded guilty to the 4 count charge levelled against him by the prosecution.
He was alleged to have stolen an infinix hot 10 valued N55, 000, camon 11 N50, 000, techno spark 4 N350, 000, povour 3 N40, 000, infinix hot 8 N45, 000, techno phone, N65, 000, nokia 105, N10, 000, itel 2160 N58, 000, techno T410, laptop N58, 000 and 1 ATM card of First Bank.
NEWS PLATFORM gathered that some of the items stolen by the defendant and 4 others including Yaroro Augustine, Bashar Sakeram, Ahmadi Suname and Sani Kamali (now at large) were later sold to one Alhaji Laluri, who is now at large at the sum of N318, 000.
According to the prosecution, it was one Usman Lawan of Rhumde ward in Yola North LGA who reported the matter at the Jimeta police station which led to the arrest of the defendant.
Lawan, informed the police that the student connived with 4 others and stormed his residence with dangerous weapons by 2:00am on the 18th December, 2021, and carted away his infinix hot 10 worth N55, 000.
After the defendant admitted commtting the offence, the prosecutor, Seargent Ahmed Abubakar, informed the court that the police commands wants to continue with investigation so as to get those at large arrested.
He applied that the defendant be remanded in police custody so as to assist them in its investigation
Ruling, Magistrate Muhammed Abdullahi Digil, granted the application and adjourned the matter to the 19th January, 2022, to enable police complete its investigation.
