LAMIDO, PROF TAHIR COMMEND JUSTICE NATHAN's PERFORMANCE




The Lamido of Adamawa, HRH. Alh. Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, has commended the state Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Nathan Musa, for his giant strides within short period of time in office.


Likewise, the Chairman Transition Committee of Yola South Local Government Council, Professor Abubakar Abba Tahir as well as  District Head of Jimeta, Alhaji Inuwa Baba Paris, said that the state is lucky to have Justice Nathan as its CJ at this critical time.


The Lamido, Prof Tahir as well as the District Head made their commendations separately, when the Chief Judge paid them a courtesy visit at the palace, LG secretariat and at the office.



Earlier, speaking while at the Lamido's palace and the Office of the District Head of Jimeta respectively, the CJ informed the royal fathers that the Jail Delivery Committee he is heading was set up to decongest correctional centres.


He stated that the committee had while at the Yola town correctional centre, discharged 90, convicted 21 and granted bail to 18 out of 302 inmates remanded for allegedly committing various offences across the 21 Local Government Areas.



While at the office of the District Head of Jimeta, Justice Nathan, said that during his committee's visit at the Jimeta correctional centre, about 119 inmates were released, 49 summarily convicted and 31 granted bail out of the total number of 410 inmates awaiting trial.


He said that the courtesy call became imperative in order to brief the the royal fathers on the activities of the committee and pleaded with them to assist the correctional centres in one way or the other.


Responding, the Lamido Adamawa who was represented by the Galadima Adamawa, Alhaji Mustapha Aminu, appreciated the committee for the visit, saying that the state and judiciary has noticed a positive change since Nathan's assumption of office.


On his part, the District Head of Jimeta, Alhaji Inuwa Baba Paris, commended him for transforming judiciary, saying that his performance within short period of time cannot be over emphasized, and prayed God to protect and guide him to enable him continue to turn things around in the judiciary.


While at the LG secretariat, the CJ said that his committee was at the Yola correctional centre and felt it was important to visit him, and appealed to him to render support to the inmates with drugs, kits, toiletries and materials for hygiene.


Responding, the Chairman Transition Committee for Yola South LGC, Professor Abubakar Abba Tahir, said that Adamawa is lucky to have him as its CJ at this critical point in time, and commended him for reviewing the cases of the inmates.


Prof Tahir, told the CJ that they know his background,  how he defended judiciary and how he has been able to raise counsels and judges as well as his contributions in other sectors in the society, and gave him kudos.


He pledged to collaborate and extend hands of fellowshiop and solidarity to him and the judiciary whenever there is the need, saying that it is an honour to him to visit them.
