TRAGEDY: 12 BURNT TO DEATH IN YOLA-GOLONTABAL ROAD CRASH




No fewer than 12 people were on Thursday burnt to death in an accident that involved two vehicles around Golontabal in Song Local Government Area.


NEWS PLATFORM learnt that the fatal accident which occured about 3:00pm, involved a hummer bus with registration number GME 944 XC and a Toyota Corolla with registration number YLA 388HS.


It was gathered that the hummer bus was heading to Yola, the Adamawa state capital from Uba LGA in Borno state, while the toyota corolla was on its way to Mubi from Jabbi Lamba, in Girei LGA.


The vehicles had a head-on collision at Golontabal village as a result of which the bus burst into flames killing 8 passengers including the driver.


Likewise, 4 passengers including the driver died in the toyota corolla bringing the total number of deaths to 12.


When contacted by NEWS PLATFORM, the image maker of the Adamawa state police command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya, confirmed the incident.


DSP Nguroje, said that 12 people died in the fatal accident and that  the deceased were taken to Song cottage hospital, saying that the cause of the accident is still being investigated.


He commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives and cautioned motorists to desist from reckless driving.
