4 ADAMAWA VIGILANTES DOCKED FOR DIVERTING STOLEN ITEMS

Newly established Upper Area Court 4 in Adamawa state has remanded 4 local vigilantes over allegations of diverting stolen items recovered from a suspected armed robber.

Honourable Musa Ibrahim Ulenda, the pioner judge of the Upper Area Court ordered for the remand of the local vigilantes after they pleaded guilty to the alleged offences of criminal conspiracy and theft.

The judge later adjourned the matter until November 15th, 2021, following an application by the prosecutor, Seargent Kabiru Abubakar,

The affected local vigilantes are Naziru Usman, 25, Iliyasu Mustapha, 20, Ibrahim Ahmed, 30,  and Yahuza Yakubu, 26.

The alleged offences according to Seargent Kabiru, contravened sections 60 and 276 of the state penal code law.

Usman and 3 other vigilantes were nabbed while handing over a suspected armed robber they had arrested for stealing a plasma Tv, laptop, mp3 player, radio set, 3 wrappers valued N300, 000, in Yola South Local Government Area.

According to First Information Report, the suspected robber and one other now at large, invaded the residence of one Hapsatu Buhari, at Mafias' quarters in Yola South LGA and carted away the items on the 24th October,  2021.

It was on the same date that the vigilantes standing trial arrested the suspect with the items who confessed to them that it was himself and one other who stormed the woman's house and made away with the items.

NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the vigilantes succeded and recovered all the items from the suspect apart from wrappers, but while taking the suspect to a royal father, the vigilantes diverted all the recovered items except the plasma tv.

But bubble burst when handing over the suspect and the tv set to the royal father, as the suspect raised observation where he told the royal father and his council that the vigilantes had diverted some items.

The suspect revealed that it was not only the tv set that they had carted away, insisting that the local vigilantes had diverted some items and that they must be investigated.

The vigilantes who were said to have been totally disappointed in the suspect could not be able to deny diverting the items.

It was at this juncture that the royal father and his council ordered for the arrest of local security personnel turned suspects; hence, their arraignment in court.
