MAN LANDS IN PRISON OVER ATTEMPT TO BUY AK-47 FOR MILITARY OFFICER



Tersoo Tarfa of Ngurore ward in Yola south Local Government Area, Adamawa has been remanded over alleged attempt to acquire Ak-47 riffle for Ezekiel Iorlam, a military officer.


Tarfa, was remanded in prison custody by Yola Chief Magistrate court I Admin, for the alleged offence which he denied committing it.


He was charged to court for criminal conspiracy and attempt to commit an offence to wit unlawful possession of fire arm contrary to sections 59 and 61 of penal code law.


The defendant was arrested on the 23rd September, 2021, by the operatives of the Zonal Command Investigative Department in preparation to illegally acquire fire arm from an unknown person now at large in Ngurore town.


The prosecutor, Rakika K. told the court that the operatives who acted on credible information, arrested the suspect while trying to withdraw money from the account of the military officer at the ATM machine.


According to the prosecutor, the military officer gave his ATM card to the suspect for him to withraw the money from his account for the purchase of the fire arm in but was nabbed in the process.


The court which was presided by Chif Magistrate Aliyu Bawuro, ordered for the remand of the defendant and adjourned the matter to 3rd November, 2021.
