Concerned by the plight of the media workers in Adamawa state, the Legislators of the state House of Assembly have commenced proceedings towards enacting a bill aimed at improving the working of media workers.
Already, a bill to that effect sponsored by the member representing Gombi constituency, Hon. Japhet Kefas, has been placed on notice indicating the readiness of the legislators towards passing the bill.
The bill is entitled, "a bill for a law to increase the retirement years and other allowences for media workers of the state so as to enhance their condition of the service and to provide for matters incidental thereto".
The new bill which is co-sponsored by Hon. Alhassan Hammanjoda (Ganye), Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa), Hon. Abdullahi Ahmadu (Leko Koma) and Hon. Isa Yahaya (Maiha), is expected to be read for first time at the next legislative day.
If enacted and assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the law will not only improve the working condition of the media workers but promote productivity, effectiveness and efficiency in the media industry in Adamawa state.
