A 32 year old Housewife, Arpetin Yamargi, has been remanded in prison custody for stabbing her co-wife with a knife on her neck to death.
The accused who hails from Mugulvu ward in Mubi South Local Government Area, Adamawa state allegedly murdered her co-wife during a fight between her and their husband.
It was learnt that a heated argument ensued between the accused and her husband on the 18th September, 2021, for allegedly stealing her money during which the gory incident occurred.
NEWS PLATFORM gathered that when Arpetin and mother of 2 approached her husband and demanded explanation as to the reason why he carted away her hard earned money, fight broke out between them.
During the fight, she was said to have picked up a knife to stab Yamargi, whom she married for 24 years, but when he saw her with the knife, he took to his heels and escaped for his dear life.
But irked by her threat to stab their lovely husband, the second wife and the deceased having watched what happened, took it upon herself and confronted the accused in her effort to teach her a lesson regardless of whatever kind of weapon the first wife was bearing.
Findings by NEWS PLATFORM indicated that the 22 year old deceased known as Ladi Yohanna, had been having a running battle with the first wife since Yamargi took her as second wife to the time of the incident.
The run away Yamargi, was said to have out of love allocated the farmland which earlier belonged to the accused person to his second wife, and that his first wife was habouring grudges against them since then.
To Arpetin, it was rare opportunity for her to ruthlessly deal with her 22 year enemy where she violently used the knife in her posseession and stabbed her on the neck.
The victim was rushed to the Mubi general hospital for treatment but pronounced dead shortly on arrival by the medical director.
But when arraigned before Chief Magistrate court 2 in Yola on Friday, the defendant pleaded guilty after which the prosecutor, Inspector Hamza Abdullahi, urged the court to adjourn the matter so as to send the case file to DPP for advice.
Inspector Hamza, told the court earlier that the defendant murdered her co-wife during misunderstanding over farmland which contravened section 192 of the state penal code law.
Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani, had while delivering his ruling, ordered that the mother of the 2 be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to 1st Novermber, 2021.
