In continuation of the urban renewal program of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri which has also been captured in the eight points agenda of his second tenure, more additional roads have been approved by the state executive Council.
While briefing journalists about the development in his office, Hon. Adamu Atiku Abubakar stated that the last executive Council has approved the construction of 20.8 kilometres Adamawa super high way, Mubi roundabout flyover/adjoining streets, target junction roundabout and the construction of storm water drain at Saminaka.
The commissioner added that the contracts have been awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria limited after winning the bid open which was done in line with the Bureau of Public Procurement ( BPP) guidelines for the award of contracts.
Similarly, the commissioner said that the contracting period of Mubi roundabout flyover is eighteen (18) Months while that of super Highway is thirty (30) Months respectively.
Hon. Adamu Atiku Abubakar also emphasized that the projects are significant land mark that will change the entire landscape of the metropolis in terms of decongesting the traffic,
beautification, reducing security challenges as well as building the Adamawa of tomorrow by envisaging number of motorists that will ply the roads. These achievements were as the results of Fintiri's strategic thinking actions that were lacked by the previous Governments the commissioner said.
Similarly he pointed out that Fintiri is keen on building Adamawa of tomorrow because the 20.8 kilometres Adamawa super Highway will definitely open up the city for more socioeconomic activities and will also give people the option to pleasantly drive on the alternatively super Highway which is time and resources saving than going through the city of Jimeta.
In addition to that, the state will going to be expanded for more developments in addition to the one thousand (100)housing units.
Lastly, he pleaded with people to thank His Excellency Rt. Hon. Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri for the bold steps that he has taken in trying to enhance and improve the quality of lives in Adamawa state, he therefore called on people to give their maximum cooperation and support and also bear with the Government for any inconveniences the construction work may caused.
In the same vein, the permanent Secretary Ministry of works and energy development, Engr. Suleiman Mohammed Stated that, the Ministry has since embarked on the desilting of canals within Rumde and also commenced the construction of storm water drains at Saminaka in order to address the perennial flooding problem that is devastating the State.
He added the Government is fully aware that there are still other areas that needed to be tackled but it will done gradually and systematically because of funding issues.
Engr. Suleiman also mentioned that he is so happy with the Mubi roundabout flyover contract that was recently awarded because it will address the flooding problems in target junction, hospital road junction along LCCN church and Bornoma house, NEPA/new Nigeria axis amongst others.
He lastly called on the public to avoid building houses on the flood plain areas and also dumping of solid waste into drainages so as to protect future devastation and cost to Government.
