Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee on Thursday, stormed Numan and Shelleng custodial centres and released no fewer than 67 convicted and non-convicted inmates.
The 67 inmates who regained their freedom include those awaiting trial and those convicted and sentenced to various prison terms for various offences mostly theft, cheating, criminal breach of trust among others.
The committee headed by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, discharged the inmates when her committee visited the correctional centers.
While at Numan Medium Correctional Centre, the committee discharged 55 convicted inmates and those awaiting trial, reviewed 45 cases, admitted 5 to bail and convicted 1 out of 215 inmates housed at the centre.
Hon. Justice Hapsat's committee which was at the satellite custodial facility Shelleng, released 12, reviewed 11 cases and granted bail to 1 out 26 inmates.
While addressing the discharged inmates, the CJ advised them to be of good behaviour and contribute meaningfully to the developement of their communities and the state in general.
