SONG COUNCILLORS REFUTE ALLEGATIONS, SAY NO PLAN TO IMPEACH CHAIR



Barely 18 hours after some Councillors in Song Local Government Council of Adamawa State purportedly wrote allegations against their council chairman Hon Gidado Abdulsalam, six out of 11 councillors have come out to openly refute the story and even tender unreserved apologies. 


The six councillors who refuted the allegations include: Majority leader of the council Hon. Umar Shehu, of Song Gari, Hon. Markus Samaila of Gudu Mboi, Hon. Ya'uba Yunusa of Kilange Funa, Hon. Abubakar Musa of Zumo, Hon Gambo Hassan of Kilange Hirna and Hon. Ibrahim Liman of Song waje wards. in an telephone interview with newsmen in Yola, described the allegations as baseless.


The Song Local Government Councillors who expressed dismay on the action of some of their colleagues said they were invited to sign a letter of appreciation to the council chairman for the role he played in ensuring fairly distribution of the palliative provided by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. 


According to them, to their dismay some of their colleagues used their signatures for other purpose, 


The local government lawmakers who debunked the issue, said such action was never taken. 


While apologising to the council chairman of Song government for the embarrassment the issue had caused him, they urged the people of song local government area to disregard the news of the purported allegations against the council boss. 


They further explained that the alleged act said to have been performed by some Legislative Councillors, did not in any manner, represent the activity of the lawmakers. 


They expressed their continued support to Song Local Government Chairman Hon. Gidado Abdulsalam, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as well as the state government and urged the council chairman to go about his normal duties.
