Tears of joy flowed freely at Mubi Correctional Center on Tuesday, when Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee (JDC) discharged 5 out of 6 women awaiting trial as well as convicted.
Among those set free from the prison custody include 3 nursing mothers and 1 pregnant house wife and other who were sent to prison for various offences.
Some of the women, who were incarcerated for minor offences, broke down in tears of joy when the Chairman of the committee and the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, discharged them.
NEWS PLATFORM learnt that some of the inmates were wallowing behind bars not because they deserved it but because of interests of judges as well as those who had dragged before the courts in some cases.
