The Adamawa State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, dismissed the petition filed against Hon. Paul Samuel.
Hon. Paul Samuel, who is the member representing Mubi North, constituency, was dragged before the tribunal by the APC Candidate, Hon. Ishaka Yusuf Dangote.
Hon. Dangote of the PDP was defeated during the 2023 general election by Hon. Paul Samuel, hence his emergence as the winner to represent Mubi North Constituency at the assembly.
He alleged that the APC Member was not duly elected by the majority of lawful votes cast, adding that the poll was marred by irregularities, and urged the tribunal to invalidate it.
On his part, Hon. Paul Samuel, told the tribunal that the election across polling units in Mubi North which gave him victory was in compliance with the electoral act.
Delivering his judgement, Hon. Justice Nkereuwem M. Obot, described Hon. Dangote's petition seeking to nullify Hon. Paul's election as incompetent, saying that the petitioner had failed to prove his arguments and the petition was void of merits.
He threw out the petition for lacking in merit and awarded the sum of N100, 000 cost in favour of Hon. Paul Samuel against Hon. Ishaka Dangote.
While reacting on the judgement, Hon. Paul Samuel, described the verdict as a well considered judgement, saying that the victory is for the entire Mubi North electorate.
Hon. Paul, called on his constituents to support him so as to enable him deliver on his mandate, and reiterated his determination towards providing good representation.
The Legislator used the opportunity and thanked the Senator representing Adamawa Northern Senatorial district, Ishaku Abbo, for his support and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
