ADHA BRINGS RESPITE TO VIGILANTE GROUP...PROVIDES SALARY STRUCTURE



Poised to regularise the operations of Vigilante Group in complementing the efforts of security agencies in Adamawa State, the State House of Assembly is considering coming up with a salary structure for the group in the state.

According to the House of Assembly, the salary structure when passed into law, will be subjected to the financial capacity of the state to implement.

The Hallowed Chamber posited that if the legislation is finally enacted, will bring respite to the group members, and at the same time motivate them to contribute tremendously in complementing the efforts of security operatives towards curtailing insecurity.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, made this known at a townhall meeting organised by International Republican Institute (IRI), in conjunction with the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) and held at Mararaban Mubi, over the weekend.

The event which was first of it kind in Uba Gaya Constituency, attracted dignitaries including members representing Mayo Belwa and Toungo Constituencies at the House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Musa Italiya and Hon. Abdullahi Umar Nyako, respectively.

But while responding on the demands presented to him by the representatives of his constituents, the speaker told the gathering that the house is considering enacting a law to provide salary structure for the vigilante group taking into cognisance their significant role in curbing security challenges.

He explained that their salary structure will be subject to the financial capacity of the state, saying if the group members are paid salaries, they will put in more effort in checkmating cases of kidnapping and armed banditry among others.

He called on on the traditional institutions to be up and doing towards ensuring peace and stability in their domains, advocating for a formation of vigilante groups in every community in order to check insecurity.
