COMMONWEALTH SUMMIT: HON. MACKONDO, 12 OTHERS ATTEND CONFERENCE IN TANZANIA



About 13 out of 25 Members of the 7th Adamawa State House of Assembly and their counterparts across 19th commonwealth member countries in Africa are currently attending the 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Africa Region, which kicked started yesterday in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

The annual event which commenced early yesterday, attracted several lawmakers at the National and State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, as well as other parliamentarians in other member countries. The CPA will be rounded up today.

According to reports from the venue of the event in Zanzibar, the 50th CPA has been organised primarily to aid in fostering cooperation among parliamentarians in member countries as well as enhancing democracy in Africa.

The Deputy Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Pwamwakaino Mackondo( Numan Constituency), led the state delegates who are expected to participate fully in the conference.

The state legislators who are in attendance include; the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Pwamwakaino Mackondo(Numan), the Majority Leader, Hon. Hammantukur Yettisuri(Jada Mbulo), Chief Whip, Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada(Michika), Deputy Chief ,Hon.
Hon.Adwawa Donglock(Guyuk), Hon. Abdullahi Ahmadu ( Leko Kom), Hon. Hamidu Sajo Lekki(Yola North), Hon. Myandassa Bauna(Lamurde).

Others are; Hon. Bathiya Wesley (Hong), Hon. Shuaibu Babas(Fufore Gurin), Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak(Verde), Hon. Musa Umar Bororo(Mubi South) and Hon. Abubakar Isa (Shelleng).

The members of the state Assembly who have made it to the conference, pledged to translate/ domesticate what the will acquire at the event for the development of their constituencies and the state at large.

But in their reactions on the ongoing CPA, cross section of Adamawa citizens wished the state lawmakers fruitful deliberations, and prayed God, to take them back to the state safely.

They appealed to the Honourable Members to effectively make use of the rare opportunity and update themselves with knowledge on legislative business, commending the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for making it possible for the legislators to attend the event.
